The Story
Hey y'all, I'm JD Wood and I'm a songwriter who has always had a deep-seated love for music. I started writing songs when I was about 9 years old; a whole lot of years have passed since then, but I've never been able to shake this addiction. While I certainly enjoy making a bit of noise playing and singing when I get the chance, it is my focus on songwriting that gives me the freedom to experiment and create in different styles and genres. Whether I'm writing Country, Americana, Worship, Pop, or songs for Film/TV, it's the challenge of making great music that keeps me in the game.
I'm thankful to have had a few successes to celebrate in my songwriting career. One of the more satisfying moments was having the Country music super-group, Sawyer Brown, cut one of my songs. They Don't Understand (written with Dean Chance, Teresa Johnston, and Steve Miller) was included on Sawyer Brown's Mission Temple Fireworks Stand album. They released it to radio as a single and shot a great video for it as well. The most amazing thing was that about a year later, they decided to add They Don't Understand to their Greatest Hits CD as well.
I am blessed to have the opportunity to write with a number of super- talented artists who have recorded and released our songs. One such example is Country artist, Lucas Hoge, who released our tune Flip Flops (check out the video here) on his Dirty South project. Margarita (click here to hear it on Spotify) is a fun, beachy song written with Australian Country/Pop artist, Grayson. It's so gratifying for me to have my songs out there in the world, being performed by such gifted musicians.

The MusicSometimes I finish writing a song and find that I feel so strongly about it that I just need to share it. In those instances when I simply can't wait, I record and release it myself. Click on the album art or the links below to check it out a few examples of my CDs and Singles, available on Spotify, YouTube, etc. I will be releasing more tracks very soon -- including a few Country singles and songs from other genres -- so, check back often. And if you would like to be added to my mailing list, scroll down to the Contacts page at the bottom.
